Jowell’s journey with photos began when he picked up his first DSLR in 2008. He found such a high in taking photos of anything and everything, and his family and peers started commending his images which made him long for photography to be more than just a hobby.
He earned his first big photography accomplishment when he was accepted as a photo journalist in The Lasallian. Shortly after, he also joined Imagine Nation and was trained further by John Mateos Ong. In 2010 he was promoted as a Junior Photographer as he excelled in the art of wedding photography. At about the same time, he became a finalist of Lee’s “Make History” photo contest. His photo entitled “FINE-TUNED” was put up on billboards along SLEX, NLEX and Edsa, Guadalupe. It was also printed in FHM and other local magazines, and was used as poster ads in various malls.
Eventually wanting to do more than just weddings, Jowell’s craving for growth got the best of him and he opted to take the freelance road to give way to a broader understanding of photography.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
